Leadership
Course Description: This course integrates the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors to be a competent nurse leader prepared to deliver, evaluate, and improve interventions to address diverse healthcare needs for individuals, families, and
communities. Emphasis is placed on contemporary leadership issues including self-awareness and the role of interprofessional communication and collaboration in a healthy work environment
Course Objectives: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate the leadership knowledge and skills necessary for the provision of evidence-based nursing care to
improve health and safety outcomes. - Evaluate the role of healthcare technology as a mechanism to improve the provision of safe, quality nursing care.
- Evaluate the inherent challenges and benefits of implementing change in the healthcare environment for the
delivery of quality and safe care for individuals, families, and communities. - Demonstrate self-awareness, incorporating the leadership skills required to build and support healthy work
environment and the goals of the interprofessional team. - Model the professional values required for leadership efficacy, including self-care.
